Dal Tadka
Classic smoky dal tadka with aromatic ghee tempering

Ingredients
- 1 cup toor dal
- 2 tbsp ghee
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 4 garlic cloves, sliced
- 2 dried red chilies
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander
Method

Wash and pressure cook dal with turmeric and salt for 3 whistles.

Mash the cooked dal and keep aside.

Heat ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds, garlic and dried red chilies.

Add chopped onion, saute until golden brown.

Add tomato puree and cook until oil separates.

Pour the tempering over the dal, mix well and simmer for 5 minutes.

Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with rice or roti.
