Restaurant-style toor dal fry with onion-tomato masala

  • 1 cup toor dal
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Fresh coriander

Method

    Pressure cook dal with turmeric and salt until soft.

    Heat oil and butter, saute onions until golden.

  3. 3

    Add ginger-garlic paste, cook for a minute.

  4. 4

    Add tomatoes, red chili powder and cook until mushy.

    Add cooked dal, adjust water and simmer 10 minutes.

    Finish with garam masala, garnish with coriander.
