Dal Dhokli
Traditional Gujarati one-pot meal with spiced wheat dumplings in dal

Ingredients
- 1 cup toor dal
- 1 cup wheat flour
- 1 tbsp jaggery
- 1 tbsp tamarind paste
- 2 tbsp peanuts
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 2 tbsp oil
- Ghee for tempering
Method

Cook dal with turmeric, jaggery and tamarind until soft.

Make a stiff dough with wheat flour, turmeric, chili powder, oil and salt.

Roll thin and cut into diamond shapes.

Drop dhokli pieces into simmering dal one by one.

Add peanuts and cook for 15 minutes until dhokli are cooked through.

Temper with ghee, mustard seeds, cumin and curry leaves.
