Homemade crispy urad dal papads sun-dried to perfection

Ingredients

  • 1 cup urad dal
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • Pinch of hing
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp baking soda

Method

    Soak urad dal for 6 hours, drain and grind to a very fine paste.

    Add salt, pepper, cumin, hing and baking soda to the paste.

    Knead well until the dough is elastic and smooth.

    Make small balls and roll out into very thin circles.

  5. 5

    Dry under direct sunlight for 2-3 days until completely crisp.

    Store in airtight container and fry or roast before serving.
