Simple everyday plain toor dal with minimal seasoning

Ingredients

  • 1 cup toor dal
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • Pinch of hing

Method

    Wash toor dal and pressure cook with turmeric and salt for 3 whistles.

    Mash the dal to desired consistency.

  3. 3

    Heat ghee, add cumin seeds and hing.

  4. 4

    Pour the simple tempering over the dal.

  5. 5

    Mix gently and serve immediately.

    Best enjoyed with plain steamed rice and ghee.
