Coconut-flavoured Maharashtrian amti with goda masala

Ingredients

  • 1 cup toor dal
  • 2 tbsp fresh coconut, grated
  • 1 tsp goda masala
  • 1 tsp jaggery
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • Curry leaves
  • Pinch of hing
  • 1 tbsp oil

Method

    Cook toor dal with turmeric until soft.

    Add goda masala, jaggery and salt, simmer 5 minutes.

    Grind fresh coconut to a fine paste and add to dal.

  4. 4

    Simmer for another 5 minutes on low heat.

    Temper with oil, mustard seeds, curry leaves and hing.

    Serve with steamed rice and bhakri.
