North Indian style arhar dal with classic home-style tempering

Ingredients
- 1 cup toor dal
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 2 green chilies
- Curry leaves
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- Pinch of hing
- 2 tbsp ghee
- Fresh coriander
Method

Pressure cook dal with turmeric, tomatoes and salt.

Mash the dal to a smooth consistency.

Heat ghee, add cumin, mustard seeds, curry leaves and hing.

Add green chilies and let them splutter.

Pour the tempering over the dal and mix.

Garnish with coriander and serve with chapati or rice.
