Lucknowi-style rich dal with cream and mild aromatic spices

Ingredients
- 1 cup oily toor dal
- 2 tbsp cream
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 tbsp ghee
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 green cardamom
- 1 inch cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp garam masala
- Saffron strands
Method

Cook toor dal with turmeric until creamy and soft.

Heat ghee, add bay leaf, cardamom and cinnamon.

Add sliced onion and cook until golden.

Add cooked dal, cream and saffron soaked in warm milk.

Simmer on very low heat for 15 minutes.

Finish with garam masala and serve with naan or sheermal.
