Ingredients

  • 1 cup moong chilka dal
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 green chilies
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Fresh coriander

Method

    Wash and cook chilka dal with turmeric until just soft (keep some texture).

    Heat oil, add cumin seeds and green chilies.

    Add onion, saute until golden, then add tomatoes.

    Cook until tomatoes are soft and mushy.

    Add cooked dal, garam masala and simmer 5 minutes.

    Garnish with coriander and serve with rotis.
