Ingredients
- 1 cup masoor dal
- 1 carrot, diced
- 1 celery stalk
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 garlic cloves
- 1 inch ginger
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Lemon juice
Method
- 1
Cook masoor dal with carrot, celery and onion until very soft.

Saute garlic and ginger in a little butter.

Add to the cooked dal and blend until smooth.

Season with cumin, pepper, salt and fresh lemon juice.

Reheat and adjust consistency with water or stock.
- 6
Serve hot with crusty bread or croutons.
