Crispy deep-fried toor dal fritters with green chutney

Ingredients

  • 1 cup toor dal, soaked 4 hours
  • 2 green chilies
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • Curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp fennel seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying

Method

    Drain soaked dal and grind to a coarse paste without water.

    Add green chilies, ginger, onion, curry leaves and fennel seeds.

    Mix well and shape into flat round vadas.

    Heat oil until very hot, slide vadas gently into oil.

  5. 5

    Fry on medium heat until golden and crispy on both sides.

    Drain on paper and serve hot with coconut or mint chutney.
