Spicy masala toor dal with onion-tomato base and bold spices

Ingredients
- 1 cup toor dal
- 2 onions, chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2 tbsp oil
- Fresh coriander
Method

Pressure cook dal with turmeric and salt.

Heat oil, saute onions until deep golden.

Add ginger-garlic paste, tomato puree and all spices.

Cook until oil separates from the masala.

Add cooked dal, adjust consistency and simmer 10 minutes.

Garnish with coriander and serve with hot chapati.
