Hyderabadi-style toor dal slow-cooked with tender mutton

Ingredients

  • 1 cup toor dal
  • 500g mutton, cut
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tsp biryani masala
  • 4 green chilies
  • Fresh mint and coriander
  • 3 tbsp oil

Method

    Marinate mutton with yogurt, ginger-garlic paste and spices for 1 hour.

    Soak dal for 30 minutes.

    Heat oil, fry onions golden. Add marinated mutton and sear.

    Add dal and enough water, pressure cook for 6-7 whistles.

    Simmer on low heat until meat is falling-off-the-bone tender.

    Garnish with mint, coriander and fried onions.
