Comforting yogurt and besan kadhi with light spice tempering

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup besan
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • Curry leaves
  • 2 dried red chilies
  • Pinch of hing

Method

    Whisk besan and yogurt together until smooth and lump-free.

    Add water and turmeric, mix well.

    Bring to boil on medium heat, stirring continuously.

    Simmer on low for 20 minutes until it thickens slightly.

    Temper with mustard, cumin, curry leaves, chilies and hing.

    Serve over steamed rice with a drizzle of ghee.
