Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp each: toor, moong, masoor, chana, urad dal
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 3 tbsp ghee

Method

    Wash all five dals together and soak for 30 minutes.

    Pressure cook with turmeric and salt until soft.

  3. 3

    Heat ghee, add cumin and garlic, saute onion golden.

  4. 4

    Add tomatoes and cook until soft.

  5. 5

    Pour tempering over dal, add garam masala.

    Simmer 10 minutes and serve with rice or roti.
